Slate-Looking Rubber Shingles Provide the Look of a Traditional Wood Roof
Rubber Roof & Skylight Replacement
This corner lot home had a 30-year old cedar shake roof and a pyramid-shaped skylight on roof peaks. Over time, nails and staples had become loose. Many were popping out, especially on the ridges of the house. Majority of the cedar shakes showed signs of rotting and splitting, causing roof leaks.
The homeowners wanted to use a more durable roofing material and they eventually decided on rubber. They also wanted a “slate-looking” roof rather than a traditional wood roof.
Rubber Roof Replacement
The product selected was the Euroshield Heritage Slate. Heritage Slate is light and is designed to replicate New England style slate roofing.
Heritage Slate panels come in carefully wrapped bundles. These bundles can be stored outside as long as they lay flat on the pallet. For the roof underlayment, we selected GAF’s premium grade – 48” Tiger Paw. They provide seven times the tear strength in comparison to the standard #30 felt and is safe to walk on.
The roof replacement took less than six days to complete.
Skylight Replacement
The new skylight took two weeks to manufacture and a couple of days to install.
